Try Again by Aaliyah

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you without a dope beat to step to.

I have always loved this song.  Mainly because it's just a dope song with a dope Timbaland beat.  But as I grow older and wiser, I've been looking more at the message in the songs I like.  This is a great, classic message.  If at first you don't succeed, brush yourself off and try again.  Yes, this song is talking about a relationship because, you know, all popular songs have to talk about love.  But the hook and the message is still clear and can be applied to whatever you are trying to achieve.  Success takes hard work.  Everybody fails.  But the people who win are the ones who never give up.  So if you ever have a day where you are thinking about giving up, just hit play and listen.

Dust yourself off and try again.

Try by Pink

OK, it's time for another guilty pleasure song....

Some people love pop music.  Some people think it is all cheesy and elementary.  I am somewhere in the middle but I definitely think simple pop songs have their place in the world.  As a matter of fact, sometimes it is the simple pop songs that speak the most truth into our lives.  Sometimes it is that simple song with simple words that you need to hear right at a certain moment.  This is one of those songs for me.  Sometimes we just need to hear Pink tell us to "get up and try."

Where there is desire, there is going to be a flame.  Where there is a flame someone's bound to get burned.  But just because it burns doesn't mean you're going to die.  You gotta get up and try and try and try.

Pink is a wise woman.

Glossy Soul's "Music To Succeed To"

I had such a blast making this record.  I have wanted to make a smooth jazz record for years!  This album is what I call "Hip-hop Piano Jazz," which is just my term for smooth jazz piano music, but with a little more of a hip-hop production style. It is head-bobbing funky grooves with pretty piano melodies on top. It's catchy and fun, but also designed to evoke emotions in us that inspire us and encourage us to do amazing things in our lives!

I think you will have as much fun listening to as I did making this record.  Also, if you want to listen to some of the tunes off the album before buying it, you will get a chance to do that before making a purchase!  So I hope you will click the "Buy Now" button below and check out Glossy Soul's "Music To Succeed To" today!

You Get What You Give by New Radicals

Not many bands break up before their album is released.  Apparently New Radicals couldn't keep it together long enough to enjoy long term success, but at least they gave the world an uplifting jam before they said "Adieu" to the music world.

This song is such a jam.  It uses a very simple chord progression, but what a catchy chorus.  And the words are great.  Sometimes it is the simplest songs that tell us exactly what we need to hear.  Just sing this one to yourself when you don't think you have anything left to give.  I promise it will help.

Don't give up, you've got a reason to live.

Brave by Sara Bareilles

Ok I might get some flack from the dudes on this one, but sometimes we gotta come out and talk about our guilty pleasure songs.  And here is one of mine.

This song has such a great message.  Simple but really great.  Don't be scared.  Don't be ashamed.  Go out and be you.  The world needs you!  Plus, you can't help but smile when you watch the video.  And I'm going to say it.  Guys, you officially can like this song too.  You can still be cool and like Sara Bareilles.  I promise.

So let this lady inspire you.  Then go out and be brave today.
